General Obstetrics & Gynecology
The Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology offers patients comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care, including a wide range of consultation and treatment options, from routine well-woman care and examinations to the most advanced diagnosis and treatment of obstetrical and gynecologic problems for women of all ages. Our physicians design individualized management, treatment and follow up care, exploring and explaining options and procedures to each patient.
Gynecology
In addition to providing well woman and preventive care, our gynecologists have special training in treating conditions of the reproductive organs: vulva, vagina, cervix, ovaries, fallopian tubes and uterus. Our physicians explore non-surgical and surgical treatment options to treat abnormal pap smears, sexually transmitted diseases, menstrual irregularities, menopausal symptoms, fibroids and pain in the pelvis. Our gynecologists work closely with Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC) specialists in infertility, urogynecology, and gynecologic oncology to develop treatment and management plans for patients.
Obstetrics
We deliver approximately 3,800 babies each year at CUMC and about 2,500 more at The Allen Hospital, located at the northern tip of Manhattan. We offer a high-risk consultation services, and patient education programs.
We offer mothers-to-be exceptional care, from preconception visits to regular prenatal examinations which include an array of sophisticated screening and diagnostic procedures, to monitor fetal growth and development and to identify potential problems. Our obstetricians track the mothers’ health just as carefully, to detect and treat any maternal complications that may develop. For patients whose pregnancies are complicated by fetal disorders, we coordinate care with our Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) specialists at the Center for Prenatal Pediatrics, located in the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of NewYork-Presbyterian. Our MFM physicians work with multidisciplinary teams of prenatal and postnatal specialists to provide the best care options for each patient, before and after birth.
Part of the vibrant medical community, our doctors and patients and medical students benefit from NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital’s Columbia University Medical Center facilities and expertise in patient care, and from collaboration with cutting edge medical researchers, clinicians and multidisciplinary specialists. NYP is consistently ranked #1 in New York City and on the Honor Roll nationally, and in the top ten for gynecology in US News and World Report’s 2011-2012 survey.
