Biography

Dr. Burgansky graduated Summa Cum Laude from Pace University with B.S. in Biology. She received her graduate medical training at SUNY Downstate School of Medicine, where she graduated Cum Laude and was accepted into the AOA Honor Medical Society. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York and joined the faculty at Columbia University Medical Center’s (CUMC) Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2003.

Dr. Burgansky practices general obstetrics and gynecology at the Allen Hospital and provides outpatient care for the underserved community at the Washington Heights Family Health Center. Her clinical interests are in laparoscopic and minimally invasive gynecologic surgical procedures.

Dr. Burgansky assumed a leadership role as a Division Chief of OB/GYN Division at Allen Hospital in 2008. She is actively involved in development and implementation of patient safety and quality improvement initiatives at CUMC, serving as a co-chair of Quality Assurance Committee and an active member of MCIC OB Clinical Leadership Committee. She led an MCIC initiative for development of Guidelines for Care of the Obese Obstetrical Patient.

Dr. Burgansky implemented a multidisciplinary simulation training program for Labor & Delivery staff at the Allen Hospital. The program is designed to improve team response in diagnosis and treatment of common obstetrical complications, such as shoulder dystopia, hypertensive emergencies and post-partum hemorrhage. She is actively involved in mentoring, training and teaching residents and medical students.
