Dr. Sauer has specialized in reproductive medicine since 1986 and has a vast experience with a large variety of fertility disorders.  He is known internationally for his innovative research in assisted reproduction and he is recognized as one of the pioneers responsible for the development of egg and embryo donation.  He established one of the most competitively sought after training programs for fellows in reproductive endocrinology; responsible for advancing  clinical, basic and stem cell research while training the future leaders in the field.  He has a special interest in medical bioethics and serves on the Ethics Committee of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the Ethics Committee of the New York Presbyterian Columbia University Medical Center, and the editorial board of the American Journal of Bioethics.  Dr. Sauer has assembled an outstanding team of subspecialists to manage the care of patients many of which suffer from some of the most complex problems known to exist in the field.  Included are patients with cancer wishing to preserve their fertility prior to oncology treatments; single women and same sex couples; patients experiencing recurrent pregnancy loss; menopausal women young and old wishing to have a biologic child; and HIV infected individuals utilizing special techniques to insure their partners and children remain disease free.
