Seven faculty members in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center were named to the prestigious Super Doctors list this year.

The indepently-curated list is comprised of outstanding doctors from more than 40 medical specialties who have attained a high degree of peer recognition or professional achievement. Super Doctors is published as a special supplement in leading newspapers and city and regional magazines, including The New York Times magazine.

The selection process for Super Doctors is a rigorous multi-step process designed to identify healthcare providers who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. Nominees are determined by their peers and by thorough research of databases and publications. The candidates are then evaluated based on 10 criteria, including years of experience, hospital appointments, fellowships, professional activities, leadership positions, academic achievements/positions, board certifications, publications, lectures & presentations, honors and awards, and other outstanding achievement. Only the highest-scoring doctors are included on the Super Doctors list, which includes only around 5 percent of the doctors within the respective state or region.

Altogether Columbia Ob/Gyn had seven faculty members on the Super Doctors list across three specialties, including Maternal-Fetal Medicine, General Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility:

  • Eric Forman, MD (Rising Star)
