Columbia Ob/Gyn hosts workshop for FPMRS trainees and faculty

Columbia University Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology hosted the second annual New York City Regional Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS) Course on Friday, November 15 at the Jaharis Simulation Center in the Roy and Diana Vagelos Education Center.

The full-day medical education event icnluded all fellows in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery from the New York City area as well as residents interested in FPMRS. Faculty members from institutions across New York City, representing a variety of sub-specialty disciplines, taught at the various stations, including a dry and wet lab.

The course was significantly expanded from its first iteration, featuring contributions from Boston Scientific as well as Medtronic and Allergan. 

Columbia University faculty members and urogynecology specialist Helai Hesham, MD presented challenging cases to a panel of experts during lunch, Svjetlana Lozo, MD, MPH sat on a panel of FPMRS experts.

The course took place in the Mary and Michael Jaharis Simulation Center in the Roy and Diana Vagelos Education Center. The SIM Center, a major training resource that integrates a standardized patient program, mannequin-based simulations, and procedural skills training, has tools, models, and set ups tailored to many different disciplines.
