Providers in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center are now offering video visits through the NYP OnDemand Video Visit program.

Video visits allow patients to save time traveling to and waiting in the doctor's office by video conferencing with their doctor from an off-site location, like the patients’ home. It is a quick, convenient way to communicate with medical professionals contributing to a patient’s care, including their existing doctor. Video visits require an internet or Wi-Fi connection and can be accessed via the NYP app or on the web. Patients are encouraged to ask their provider if they offer this convenient service and if it may be appropriate for their care.

“We know there are many demands on our patients’ time, particularly for new moms,” said Mary E. D’Alton, MD, Chief of the Department of Ob/Gyn at NYP/CUIMC. “We are proud to offer an alternative care delivery method that meets patients where they are, providing an alternative to traditional in-office visits that offers convenience and increased accessibility.”

Video visits require an internet or Wi-Fi connection and can be accessed via the NYP app or on the web at nyp.org/virtualvisit on any laptop or computer.

Video visits are typically most appropriate for a routine check-up before a procedure, a medication consultation, or a standard follow-up appointment after the procedure is completed. If a physical examination is required, the patient will need to have an in-person visit with their doctor.

We are currently offering video visits in several different specialties:

  • Family Planning
  • General Ob/Gyn
  • Gynecologic Oncology
  • Integrated Women’s Health
  • Maternal-Fetal Medicine
  • Women’s Mental Health
