U.S. News and World Report ranks NewYork-Presbyterian #4 in Gynecology nationwide, for the second year in a row

U.S. News & World Report announced their 2020-2021 hospital rankings today. NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center and Weill Cornell Medical Center ranked #4 in Gynecology service nationwide for the second year in a row, and NYP/CUIMC and Cornell ranked #4 among all hospitals nationwide, up from #5 last year. NYP/CUIMC and Cornell were also ranked the #1 hospital in the state of New York, for the 20th year running.

"Achieving a top four ranking in the nation two years running is an immense achievement, and a testament to years of hard work and dedication by our entire team," said Mary D'Alton, MD, Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at NYP/CUIMC. "At all levels, from our gynecologic leadership to our clinical staff and administrative staff, we have worked hard to build strong programs that have won national and international recognition, and of course to deliver the highest levels of patient care and the best possible outcomes."

Now in their 31st year, the U.S. News rankings are the global authority in hospital rankings. Designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to seek care, the rankings this year feature updated methodology in the 16 data-driven specialty rankings, which cover Cancer, Cardiology and Heart Surgery, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Ear, Nose and Throat, Gastroenterology and GI Surgery, Geriatrics, Gynecology, Nephrology, Neurology and Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Pulmonology and Lung Surgery, and Urology.

The rankings encompass a total of 26 adult specialties, procedures, and conditions, and evaluate nearly every community hospital in the country. More than 4,500 hospitals were evaluated, with 134 ranking in at least one specialty, and 563 ranking among the Best Regional Hospitals in a state or metro area. This year's edition includes "Hospital Heroes," a special recognition of the efforts of the nation's healthcare professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic.

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital is one of only 20 U.S. hospitals to be named to the 2020-2021 Best Hospitals Honor Roll, a distinction recognizing hospitals that deliver the highest quality of care. See the full rankings here.
