Ob/Gyn Epidemiology and Biostatistics Consulting

The Ob/Gyn Epidemiology and Biostatistics Consulting service works in affiliation with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center to provide statistical support for the clinicians and researchers of the department. It is a professional service comprised of Master and PhD-level biostatisticians and epidemiologists.

How it Works

Requests for consultations should be submitted through the Request a Consultation form. Clinicians, residents, fellows, and other researchers affiliated with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology can schedule consultations.

An initial meeting with the primary statistician will be scheduled to discuss the request and project in more depth. Depending on the nature of the project, the meeting may also include additional epidemiology or statistics faculty.

Once the work is complete, either a follow-up meeting will be scheduled or an email sent out to detail the results, as applicable.

Services Offered

We offer a variety of services to researchers, including:

  • Study design
  • Power analysis and sample size calculations
  • Data analysis
  • Statistical reports and summaries
  • Statistics section for manuscripts (co-authorship may be requested)
  • Statistics section for grant applications (co-investigator position may be requested)

Requests that fall outside the scope of services will be referred to the appropriate domain experts or, if they align with the research interests of the faculty, be considered for collaboration instead of consultation. We will be glad to serve as a co-investigator, programmer, or data analyst in a grant or a co-author in a manuscript.
