Maternal Child Research Oversight Committee (MaCRO)
The Maternal-Child Research Oversight (MaCRO) committee is a formal entity that supports collaborative research between the Departments of Pediatrics and Obstetrics & Gynecology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Integration of pre- and post-natal research efforts, MaCRO rapidly responded to the COVID-19 pandemic, publishing findings in leading journals.
MaCRO acts as a coordinating center and data repository that incorporates detailed outcomes on both mother and child, encouraging data sharing among Columbia investigators. Most importantly, MaCRO provides the infrastructure for comprehensive health and well-being outcome data collection of mothers and their newborns born during the pandemic. Additionally, MaCRO is the umbrella under which the long-term follow up, the COVID-19 Mother Baby Outcomes (COMBO) initiative, was established.
