The Division of General Obstetrics & Gynecology provides services in locations throughout Manhattan, Riverdale, and Westchester. Services include a wide range of consultation and treatment options, from routine well-woman care and examinations to the most advanced diagnosis and treatment of obstetrical and gynecologic problems for women of all ages. Our physicians design individualized management, treatment, and follow up care, exploring and explaining options and procedures to each patient.
In addition to providing well-woman and preventive care, our gynecologists have special training in treating conditions of the reproductive organs: vulva, vagina, cervix, ovaries, fallopian tubes, and uterus. Our physicians explore non-surgical and surgical treatment options to treat abnormal pap smears, sexually transmitted diseases, menstrual irregularities, menopausal symptoms, fibroids, and pain in the pelvis. Our gynecologists work closely with Columbia University Irving Medical Center specialists in infertility, urogynecology, and gynecologic oncology to develop treatment and management plans for patients.
Physicians in the division deliver approximately 3,800 babies each year at CUIMC and about 2,500 more at The Allen Hospital, located at the northern tip of Manhattan. Our gynecologists also practice at several locations throughout the New York metropolitan area and beyond: midtown, Columbus Circle, an uptown CUIMC location, Riverdale, the NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital in Westchester, and a ColumbiaDoctors Scarsdale practice. We offer a high-risk consultation services and patient education programs.
We offer mothers-to-be exceptional care, from preconception visits to regular prenatal examinations which include an array of sophisticated screening and diagnostic procedures to monitor fetal growth and development and to identify potential problems. Our obstetricians track the mother's health just as carefully, to detect and treat any maternal complications that may develop. For patients whose pregnancies are complicated by fetal disorders, we coordinate care with our Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) specialists at the Center for Prenatal Pediatrics, located in the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of NewYork-Presbyterian. Our physicians work with multidisciplinary teams of prenatal and postnatal specialists to provide the best care options for each patient, before and after birth.
