Ob/Gyn Holiday Party features music and merriment

December 13, 2018

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center held their annual holiday party on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at the Faculty Club. This year’s party was full of food, fun, and a stellar performance by the Ob/Gyn department holiday band.

The holiday band highlights the vast array of musical talent that is found throughout the Ob/Gyn department. Members include Brynn Levy (guitar), Nick Senn (drums and keyboard), Michelle DiVito (drums and keyboard), Chia-Ling Nhan-Chang, MD (vocalist), Cynthia Masson (vocalist), Dorothy Smok, MD (vocalist and accordion), Cynthia Gyamfi-Bannerman, MD (vocalist), Olivia Myrick, MD (vocalist) and Zoilo Castillo (vocalist). The band performed a Queen medley, a special tribute to Aretha Franklin, and other classics including “Killing Me Softly” and “All I Want for Christmas is You.”

The holiday party is a way to celebrate the successes and achievements of the department’s faculty, students, and staff throughout the past year, and there are so many to be proud of.

“We opened two new subspecialty centers, welcomed 10 new faculty members, took oversight of another hospital, and saw more patient visits than ever before” said Mary D’Alton, MD, Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at CUIMC. “Every person in our department has contributed to these successes, either directly or indirectly. When we combine the efforts of our clinical, research, education, and administrative teams, I believe that our department embodies Columbia’s mission to not just practice women’s healthcare, but to change it.”
