Second Annual Ob/Gyn Staff Appreciation Day Features Food, Fun, Awards

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center held their second annual Staff Appreciation Day on Thursday, June 14. While the Ob/Gyn faculty and trainees attended the Sloane Academic Assembly, more than 250 staff members from over 10 practice sites and attended the celebration.

“We really want our staff members to know how grateful we are for everything that they contribute to this department and the work they do to advance women’s health,” said Mike McNamara, Chief Financial Officer and Department Administrator for the Department of Ob/Gyn. “We aim to communicate our appreciation every day, as well as through special events like this to recognize and celebrate their hard work.”

The event was hosted at the Roy and Diana Vagelos Education Center and featured a relaxed breakfast where staff had time to mingle and reconnect with friends from across the department. Staff members were given gifts of water bottles and lunch boxes as tokens of appreciation from the department.

For the second half of the event, staff received a departmental update, sharing some of the successes from the past year, including the launch of the Mothers Center and the renovation of the Fertility Center.

The highlight of the event was the first-ever presentation of Ob/Gyn Staff Recognition Awards. Awards were given to staff members who were nominated by their peers, supervisors, and faculty. The 60 total nominations for 38 staff members were reviewed by a nine-member committee. The winners in each of the five categories (Research, Front End, Clinical, Administrative, and Management/Supervisory) were celebrated in video testimonials from their colleagues.

Congratulations to the winners of the first-ever Department of Ob/Gyn Staff Appreciation Day awards:
