Matthew D. Cantor, MD, FACOG, is an obstetrician and gynecologist at NYP Hudson Valley Hospital and an assistant clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Columbia University Medical Center. He practices general obstetrics and gynecology with clinical interests in comprehensive prenatal care, family planning services, and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. He specializes in operative hysteroscopy, colposcopy and cervical conization, and laparoscopy. He also cares for high-risk obstetric patients and supports vaginal birth after C-section. Dr. Cantor earned his bachelor and master of science in physical therapy from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, and graduated from the Medical School for International Health at Ben-Gurion University in Be’er Sheva, Israel.
Dr. Cantor completed his internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Hahnemann University Hospital at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he was named chief resident of education. During his residency, Dr. Cantor was recognized for his research in HIV, winning the Seymour Stein Memorial OB/GYN Resident Research Award and earning the Birthing Ball Award given to the resident who best incorporates midwifery principles into his obstetrics practice. Dr. Cantor is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. He is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and affiliated with NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital.
